Happy Dances All Around!

Oh yes, that title is very excited (I know that a title cannot actually be excited as it is just a title but it conveys very exciting news, so bear with me). If you follow me on Twitter (if not, whyyyy the hell not??) you may already know what this post is about.

I GOT A JOB! I feel so grown up it’s terrifying but in a good way. Let me insert some dance gifs to celebrate the occasion:

It’s the job that I really, really, REALLY wanted and I don’t know how I managed to get it, but I did. The patron of safety engineers must have held his hand over me or something because this is absolutely and in the best way possible AMAZING!!

Like I said, I will be a safety engineer which means I go to companies, mostly in the metal manufacture business and help them improve the work situations of their employees and such. This is so cool! I still don’t know how I got that lucky but somehow I did. To celebrate, I treated myself by turning this blog into a self-hosted blog. You probably already know this because otherwise you wouldn’t be reading, right?!

I won’t be starting work until November 4th. Technically I start November 1st but that’s a friday and also a holiday in my county so I get an extra couple of days before jumping in. In my first year, probably more like first and a half year, I will have to get a special education until I can really be a full safety engineer but that’s actually good because I like the fact that I will be able to continue learning and improve my skills. Most of my colleagues are still young a lot of them under 40 so that’s a plus.

Did you get any exciting news this week? What were they and if you didn’t, take a happy dance on me, it’s free!

Love the happy dances, and congrats again! And helping people be safer is always a great thing.

Yes it is. It’s the only thing that really interested me with my degree even though it’s rather unusual I guess.

That’s incredibly exciting! I’m happy for you. Also, I really like the new blog. Are you still hosting off WordPress despite the Disqus comments?

    • Wilhelmina Upton

      Thanks, it really is!
Yep, this is still WordPress powered just not the hosted .com version. I like disqus because it lets the commenters know when you replied without them having to check back and is also widely spread around the blogosphere.

Yay indeed! Now I can only hope that you’ll find something that isn’t volunteering at your Mom’s school library.
