30 Days of Books – Day 18

A book that disappointed you

Previously: Favourite quote from your favourite book

There are a couple of books I anticipated to be better than they actually were like: Madame Bovary, The Lady of the Camellias and this one.

The book that disappointed me recently though was Great Expectations. To me it was really boring and I was hoping that Miss Havisham was playing a larger role in the story as she was the reason I wanted to read the book in the first place. As I mentioned before, I love her character in the Thursday Next books so I wanted to see where she comes from but as it turned out, you have to go through a lot of boring pages and are not that much wiser afterwards. See my full rant under the link above.

Next: Favourite book turned into a movie

  • Not found of Chickens books neither – always so miserableness and kids are having a hard time – evil adults. Seen Oliver as show – and it was fantastic .. I keep it like that.
You’re doing such great job with your 30 days of books.

    • Yes, Dickens and me are not going to be pals, I only like ‘A Christmas Carol in Prose’ David Copperfield was not a success for me either but I blame it on having read it in English which was really hard. One day I will read Oliver Twist cause I already have it but not right now.
      Thank you :-)

      • Not long ago that I saw the film “Christmas Carol” – Scrooge is some scary person .. but he very lonely too. So sad story.
Thanks for coming back to me.
